Simple double bass tuner to tune up your double bass. This is for the standard EADG double bass tuning.

Tuning your double bass can be a difficult task for you if you are just beginning double bass. The good news is, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. A nicely tuned double bass can make your music sound a lot better and help you greatly while youre are just getting the hang of finger placement for notes.

Click on the note for the string you want to tune and then turn the tuning pegs on your double bass and match it up with the note that is being played.

Caution: If your double bass is extremely out of tune or if you are replacing the strings on the double bass, and tuning it the first time, you have to be careful. If this is the case then tune each string a little at a time and then go on to the next string. You want to keep the tension on each string fairly equal. The bridge is not glued or attached to the double bass, it is held there by the tension of the strings. If the tension varies too much it might cause the bridge to collapse. Also while you are tuning pay attention to the bridge, it should always be perpendicular to your double bass and be straight, not angled.

Tip: Make several passes tuning each of the strings. For example you might have noticed that if you have tuned all the strings once, and then back to the first one you tuned, it might be off a little bit. This is because you are increasing or decreasing the tension on each of the strings as you tune it and the instruments body might bend ever so slightly due to this difference in tension. This causes the other strings to slightly change in pitch. So make sure you keep on checking and tuning the strings until all are in tune, so make several passes.

Pros and cons of Double Bass Tuner Simple app for iPhone and iPad

Double Bass Tuner Simple app good for

I can now tune my bass without the need of a tuner, using this app, my ears got used to how the tuned strings sound. Now I can just tune my bass knowing how it is supposed to sound because of this app. I really recomend this app it was really usefull
This app works great! only problem is it works best on a stereo but other than that does exactly what it says it will 5/5
Im 9 and I tuned my bass in 3 minutes and it usually takes me 15 minutes
My bass was so out of tune it made me wanna cry but wen I got this app an tuned it...I was so happy!!! My bass is tuned and I can play nicely!!!
Dont listen to the people saying they cant hear anything... They just dont know how to turn their volume up... I usually dont need a tuner but this is great for someone who does.

Some bad moments

You have to have a bow. Im trying to learn rockabilly/slap bass so I dont have or use a bow. Nowhere was this mentioned. Argh!
Maybe the worst tuning app ever. Cant believe I payed .99 cents for it but I was at a gig and had forgotten my tuner. A friend turned me on to Pano tuner. I think it cost a buck and some change but its the nicest tuning app Ive seen yet.
Guys, dont waste your money. All the strings make too low of a sound.
Underwhelming…It emits a tone for each string…no visual electronic wave represented for fine tuning.
